Karamchand Gandhi, the father or the Mahatma was appointed the Diwan of Rajkot State and resided in what is today known as Kaba Gandhi no Delo, located just off the busy Gheekantha Road. This is the house where Mohandas K Gandhi's father, Karamchand Uttanchand Gandhi (Kaba Gandhi) resided at Rajkot, helping as Diwan (Prime Minister) to the King. M K Gandhi himself spent a few years of his early life here from 1881 to 1887.

It acts as a backdrop to the Memorial Institutes built in the memory of people who served for the cause of Kathiawar during their times. These buildings remain as  remnants of the colonial past of Rajkot, and houses the Conaught Hall, Watson Museum and Lang Library. The Conaugt Hall was built to commemorate the visit of Duke of Conaught to Kathiawar in 1887 A.D. This building was later named Senate Hall and presently is known as Arvindbhai Maniar Town Hall

The Mausolem known as Hazira contains the Graves of QUTB-UD-DIN MUHAMMAD KHAN who was the Tutor of Salim, Son & Successor of Akbar, & also that of his Son Naurang Khan who held Important Offices in Gujarat under Akbar. QUTB-UD-DIN was Uncle of Mirza Aziz Koka, Foster Brother of Akbar & Governer of Gujarat thrice in between 1573A.D. to 1583 A.D.. He was Killed in 1583 by Muzaffar III in the Last Sultan of Gujarat.Built on High Octagonal Platform with  Smaller Gates on the Cardial Directions & Five Arches on Each Side. It is in the Style of Mughal Tombs at Delhi. The Real Grave is in An Underground Chamber & the False Grave in the Tomb Chamber. The Quaranic Texts in Arabic are Craved, inside Tomb Chamber, on Lintels, Archives & also above Jali work on Eastern Side Walls.

                          Built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in the memory of his wife, Nyaya Mandir in Vadodara is a spectacular monument designed by the Robert Chisholm. Nyaya Mandir comprises a central hall with mosaic tiles and a statue of Chimnabai, wife of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of the Gaekwad dynasty of the Marathas. This ancient building is now a district session court.

In the museum, one can see dolls dressed in different outfits, representing the culture and traditions that different countries have.Highlights of the museum are dolls depicting folk dance like bhangra and dandiya, blue-eyed Barbie, black-eyed Laila, string puppets, glove puppets, designer dolls, husk dolls, Santa Claus dolls, and Einstein dolls. One section of the museum exhibits dolls from different countries in kiosks, providing information about the national anthem, history, and culture from where the doll have been brought.            Tambekar Wada, also known as Vitthal Khanderao, was once the private residence of the Bhau Tambekar, Diwan of Baroda (1849–54 AD). This four storey Maratha mansion features 19th-century murals, paintings, exquisitely sculpted doors, minutely carved walls, series of decorated arcades and columns.

          The entire mansion structure is raised on a stone plinth and back walls are built into a wooden framework. The shell-lime plastered walls and wooden doors on the first floor have paintings depicting 19th-century Ramayana and Mahabharata scenes, gods and goddesses of the Brahminical pantheon, battle scenes showing Indian and European soldiers and dignitaries. Edges of the walls are highlighted with broad floral borders; intricate jali work on some walls gives a rustic look to the building. Only two floors of the palace remain open for tourists. The frescos rooms with wall paintings are protected by the Archeological Survey of India.

Iskcon temple, locally known as Shri Shri Radha Damodar Mandir, has been founded by the Iskcon foundation in 1978. Its construction was preceded by the visit of Shrila Prabhupada, Iskcon’s founder Acharya, in 1970. Initially the area of the temple was limited to about 900 sq. ft. but over time the temple complex has been extended up to 13,600 sq. feet. Located a little away from the centre of the city and placed near the banks of Tapi River, the temple takes one away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The term Maharaja Palace actually refers to a series of palaces in Vadodara, Gujarat, India, constructed since the Gaekwad a prominent Maratha family started ruling the Baroda State.The first one was a building known as the Sarkar Wada. This building, not really a palace, was given up for the Nazarbaug Palace built in old classical style. (br) After this the Lakshmi Vilas Palace, an extravagant building of the Indo-Saracenic school, was built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in the year 1890.
